Laing O'Rourke have successfully secured the contract to build the Northern Concourse Expansion on the International Terminal Building.
The Brisbane Airport Expansion (Northern Concourse) project is valued at $70 million, and involves the construction of two new gates (Numbers 73 and 74). The new gates will have improved capacity to service larger aircraft, such as the Airbus A380.

For the Northern Concourse Expansion, Laing O'Rourke's scope involves:
- Four Aerobridges.
- Upgrades & Enhancements to the Operating Terminal.
- A range of Airside Works.
Laing O'Rourke Region Director Pat Cashin detailed how pleased the company was to be working with the Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) once again.
“While preparatory works have been underway for a number of weeks, this week’s official contract signing with BAC gets the planning phase formally underway,” said Mr Cashin.
“We have a proud history of supporting Brisbane Airport’s domestic and international terminals – including most recently the Domestic Terminal Access Project, connecting the car park and Airtrain to the main buildings, as well as a range of services across the wider precinct such as the Q-Catering base for QANTAS.”
Laing O'Rourke has previously delivered several projects for BAC, including the Southern Hemisphere's largest single-structure carpark.
The Domestic Terminal Access Project (DTAP) involved connecting the carpark and AirTrain with the main terminal buildings.
DTAP was considered central to the airport's growth, and a major aspect of early stages of the Brisbane Airport expansion. Laing O'Rourke was contracted for the design and construction of pedestrian access over roads, new roads, and a plaza.
Laing O'Rourke worked on the original domestic terminal at Brisbane Airport in 1987.
Beyond the Brisbane Airport expansion, Laing O'Rourke is also working on some defence-related aviation projects. These include:
- Battlefield Airlifter Upgrades (Amberley).
- AIR 5428 Pilot Training Systems Facilities (multiple states).
