Eyre Infrastructure Project - Iron Road Construction Details

The scope of the projected works are to build a deep water port located at Cape Hardy and a rail connection between the port and the mine (totalling 148 km of standard gauge, heavy haul line). Once built, the infrastructure would be deemed "open access" for other miners and grain exporters in the region and the possibility exists for the new line to connect with the National Rail Network. The mine development progressing will dictate whether the rail and port projects proceed.

The South Australian Government has put its support behind the project.

Projected Jobs For Eyre Infrastructure Project - Iron Road: Approx. 2000 during construction

The proposed iron ore mine in Central Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, would be developed by publicly listed company Iron Road Limited. At capacity, it is projected the mine would generate 24 million tonnes per year of 67% iron concentrate ore. The initiative would see the construction of a deep water port at Cape Hardy and the movement of the ore to the coast.
