BHP Mitsubishi Alliance has awarded Thiess a $440 million contract for mining services at their Caval Ridge and Peak Downs.
Under the contract Thiess will construct a conveyor belt which will transport coal from the Peak Downs Mine to the Caval Ridge wash plant.
BHP Mitsubishi Alliance asset president Rag Udd spoke about the $440 million Thiess contract, identifying that it is expected to create approximately 200 ongoing operational roles and create greater productivity efficiencies at both sites.
“This project will unlock significant productivity improvements by using spare capacity at low cost,”
This is another major win for Thiess, Cimic Group’s global mining service provider, as it continues to build its reputation in western Queensland. Thiess Managing Director Douglas Thompson spoke about the contract;
"We're extremely proud to be partnering with BMA, building on our long-standing history in Central Queensland.”
"This contract will enable Thiess to deliver productivity efficiencies, working with BMA to bring additional job opportunities to the region.”
