Thompson Road Upgrade

$175 Million Victorian Thompson Road Upgrade Tendering.

Vicroads has released the tender for the $175 million Thompson Road upgrade in Melbourne’s south-east. Work on the Thompson Road Upgrade has been progressing rapidly this year. The contract for stage 1 of the $175 million upgrade of Thompson Road was previously awarded to our mates at BMD Constructions Pty Ltd. But an opportunity has now arisen for stage 2 of the Thompson Road, Cranbourne upgrade - and our Victorian plant and equipment hire members will be all over this one like a fat kid on cake.

Stage 2 of the works will include adding an additional lane in each direction from Dandenong-Frankston Road to Marriott Boulevard and from Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to Berwick-Cranbourne Road. The new lanes will improve traffic flow and create more reliable journeys for people traveling along Thompsons Road. Additionally, three roundabouts will be replaced to help reduce the travel time of motorists during peak hours. Ten kilometres of shared use paths will also be created to give a safe and convenient way to connect community facilities with public transport.

Charlie Broadhurst, Vicroads' Project Director of South Eastern Projects said,

“We are now calling for expressions of interest from industry to deliver the second stage of the $175 million project." The project will "improve traffic flow and reduce delays for the 26,000 vehicles that use Thompsons Road each day.”

Construction for stage 2 is set to kick off late 2017 and estimated to wrap up at the end of 2019. That's two years your machines could be in use! Expressions of interest in Stage 2 of the project closes November 3, so get in quick. Tenders will then be invited from a short list of providers who will be selected on information provided in the expression of interest process.
