Scaffolding is a temporary framework used to support construction workers and materials during the construction, repair or cleaning of infrastructure. There are 8 different types of scaffolding including:
Single Scaffolding
Single scaffolding is used for brick masonry jobs. It is made up of standards, ledgers, putlogs and braces to enforce stability and durability. A single scaffolding is constructed parallel against a wall at a distance of approximately 1.2 meters.
Double Scaffolding
Just like the single scaffolding, double scaffolding is used for stone masonry jobs. The structure got its name from its two rows scaffoldings placed together to create a more robust frame. When comparing the two scaffolding types, some construction workers prefer using double scaffolding because it is stronger and more stable.
Aluminium Scaffolding
Aluminium scaffolding became popular among construction workers due to its weight and portability. Aluminium scaffoldings are easy to assemble and commonly used for painting jobs, electrical cable installation and repairs.
Steel Scaffolding
When it comes to the different types of scaffolding systems, steel scaffolding is always in the leading position, particularly for its security and durability. Steel scaffolding resembles single scaffolding, except that the scaffolding material is replaced with steel instead of the original bamboo or timber. Steel scaffolding can be used on any construction project to ensure safety working at any height. Kwikstage Scaffolding
Kwikstage scaffolding is designed to serve various purposes. Made from galvanised steel, it can sculpt itself to the shape of the structure being built. Kwikstage scaffolding is commonly used for angular buildings or directional bridges.
Scaffold Towers
Scaffold towers, also known as patented scaffoldings, are made from steel and equipped with special couplings and frames. This type of scaffolding is useful to construction workers who are required to work at heights with their very high scaffold surfaces.
Cantilever Scaffolding
Cantilever scaffolding is a separate scaffold built to angle out from a building. Cantilever scaffoldings are built when obstacles prevent the construction of the scaffolding from the ground. This scaffolding has limited usage and requires various checks before installation.
Trestle Scaffolding
Primarily used indoors for repairs, painting jobs and electrical cable works, the trestle scaffolding is supported on tripod-like movable ladders. When it comes to the different types of scaffolding and their uses, the trestle scaffolding has limited usage with a height of 5 meters.
